Gilda was born on 13th April 2004 in Turin. She spent a normal life growing in intelligence and strength, with a character marked by extraordinary determination that allowed her to always make room for herself without asking anyone for help. Her extraordinary desire to live among others meant that she was always surrounded by friends who saw in her a person who knew how to face and solve problems.
She has always been as determined in sport as she is in life: as a child, she swam like a dolphin in the pool. As a newcomer and inexperienced member of the volleyball team, she stubbornly fought her way into the starting line-up after hard work in training. In scouting, she always faced challenges with tenacity, strength and intelligence.
On March 12, 2020, she was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma after being admitted to the CTO in Turin, Italy.
Her strength of character allowed her not to hide, but to face the disease head on.
Gilda undergoes 13 hospitalisations for chemotherapy infusions with almost immediate hair loss (her strength), an autotransplant and 36 radiotherapy sessions. After full recovery an immediate relapse, an experimental protocol is tried, but without success, until reaching 24 January 2022, the date of Gilda's birth in Heaven.
